Find the six best HIIT workouts under 20 minutes that will tone and tighten, boost metabolism and get your heart rate up in less than 20 minutes. Whether you’re working out at home or a gym, these workouts will continue to burn calories throughout the day.

For those of you who know me well, you know I LOVE to workout. The capital letters are not an exaggeration in this case, I truly do love to workout. I typically exercise 6-7 days a week, whether it’s at home or at my boot-camp style gym I belong to. Does anyone else feel like the word ‘boot-camp’ is super intimidating??

Personally, I think they should be called total body transformation gyms. Wouldn’t everyone be more likely to join if they were under the impression they can transform their body rather than being yelled at by the stereotypical steroid-induced instructor?

On the contrary, the gym I belong to is all about community and encouraging each other to have your best workout, whatever that means for you. They work on toning and transforming your whole body, and mind, making working out fun and enjoyable. I know that sounds contradictory, but once you start to find what it is you enjoy doing for exercise, it’s something you’ll look forward to doing, rather than feeling like it’s something you have to do.

Before going to a gym, I would workout at home, and still do occasionally, to the videos below. These total body toning videos by Tone It Up are some of my favorites. And because we don’t always have enough time to workout for 45 minutes each day, all of these videos are under 20 minutes. These HIIT style workouts focus on increasing your heart rate, burning fat quickly and working every part of your body in just one quick workout.

In just 14 minutes you’ll break a sweat that will have you feeling so amazing the rest of the day. This workout doesn’t require a whole lot of space, but plan on having a set of dumbbells {and some balance} around to complete the routine.

This workout is even shorter, just a mere 13 minutes, but my goodness you’ll be feeling like you worked out for 40! This workout is centered around HIIT, also known as High Intensity Interval Training. This is one of the best workouts you can do for yourself when you’re short on time. HIIT boosts your metabolism, builds a healthier heart and helps you burn more fat. Who wouldn’t love all of those benefits in just 13 minutes?

This total body tone isn’t quite as intense as the above workout, but don’t be fooled. You’ll still get a great workout from an under 15 minute video. Use whatever weight feels comfortable for you throughout this workout. It’s more about keeping good form and doing the exercises well, over heavy weights where you can’t complete the routine. Something they talk about in the video is doing a drop set. Meaning you can start heavy, but if you feel you’re starting to lose form, drop to a lower weight to complete the remaining reps.

She’s not joking around when she says you’ll feel totally toned in just 16 minutes! This is another HIIT workout that will get your heart rate up and metabolism boosted. I’m definitely breathing heavy by the end of this workout, but man does it feel good to know that you’ve worked your entire body in such a short amount of time.

This workout will have you wishing you were on a beach instead of in a hotel gym or your home. Another under 15 minute workout video that will have you guzzling water by the end. I love this workout because it’s 30 seconds of toning moves and 30 seconds of a cardio move, which is what HIIT is all about. Plus 30 seconds goes by pretty quickly!

This workout is great if you want to tone and sculpt, but don’t want to be super intense about it. These moves will tone and tighten, but without all of the jumping and crazy cardio like the last videos. This is a great Saturday or Sunday morning workout with you need a little yoga with your toning.

And speaking of yoga, I wanted to leave you with this little bonus video. It’s honestly one of my favorite yoga sessions to do that’s only 15 minutes. If you have some extra time after your HIIT/total body workout, then you should definitely do this yoga flow video. It’s a great way to stay limber and stretch out those muscles you’ve just toned up. Stretching is so important to keep from getting injured while working out, so make sure you’re incorporating it into your daily routine.

Whether you’re looking for a way to try out a HIIT workout, or you’re a HIIT pro and want to keep the momentum up, try one of the above workouts. Just know that exercise is a form of self-love, and a great way to take time for you.

What are your favorite quick workouts? I would love to know in the comments so I can try them out!
