A Total Body Bridal Bootcamp

A Total Body Bridal Bootcamp
whit-mar

Another week down, another successful seven days of sweating for the wedding.

I spent the past weekend in D.C. for my sister-in-law-to-be’s nuptials and despite our busy bridal schedule, still managed to stick to my wedding workout challenge.

Like many brides (me included), Mary (my SILTB) has been busting her buns for several months now, getting in the best shape of her life for the most important day of her life.

Being the overachiever she is, it wasn’t enough for Mary to workout everyday leading up to her wedding, she wanted to squeeze in one last sweat the day of.

Naturally, I was all aboard and agreed to host a hardcore bridal bootcamp for her guests.

Despite a lively rehearsal dinner the evening before, we still had a pretty large group turn out on Saturday morning to get their sweat on.

I came up with a routine incorporating cardio, strength training, balance/stretching exercises, and to engage and energize the group, a few friendly competitions.

The one-hour workout is fun and challenging for people of all exercise abilities and ages, as verified by our group which ranged from about 14 to 60-year-olds.

If you’ve got a wedding or group event coming up, I encourage you to try it out. It’s a blast and you don’t need to be a personal trainer to do it. The exercises are all pretty simple, but effective.

The workout went great. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were definitely sore and sweaty at the end.

And although I joked that we let Mary win the challenges since it was her big day, the rigging was unnecessary. This buff bride held a plank for four minutes straight, a solid minute longer than anyone else in the group.

If you’d like to try the workout and have any questions about it, please post them in the comments below and I’m happy to clarify!

Weigh In: Would you do a bridal bootcamp on your wedding day? What’s the longest you’ve ever held a plank?
